Concrete for Pflugerville — 70,000 people on the worst clay in Central Texas
Twenty-five minutes down 130: subdivision after subdivision from the 1990s to today, every one of them on Blackland clay that heaves in the rain and shrinks in the drought. We replace what it broke and build so it can't break the next one.
Pflugerville was a farm town of 4,000 in 1990 and is a city of about 70,000 today, and nearly every house in between went up on Blackland Prairie clay — the same expansive black soil as east Georgetown and Hutto, only deeper. The 1990s and 2000s subdivisions along Pecan Street, Pflugerville Parkway and Wells Branch Parkway, and the newer ones east of 130 like Falcon Pointe, Blackhawk, Avalon and Carmel, all got builder driveways poured thin on raked clay. The 2011 and 2022–23 droughts opened the cracks; the wet springs since have heaved the pieces. Aprons dropped at the street, slabs lifted at the garage, patios pulled away from the house.
We work Pflugerville every week for driveway replacement built to survive the clay — over-excavation, compacted base, rebar on chairs, thicker slabs, joints on a tight grid — plus extensions, patios and pool decks, RV pads, walkways, and polyurethane lifting for the slabs that are still sound. The City of Pflugerville permits driveway approaches and structural slabs; most subdivisions have an HOA that reviews street-visible work. We pull the permit and prepare the packet. Free written estimates that say exactly how deep we dig and why.

Questions from Pflugerville homeowners
Why do driveways in Pflugerville crack so fast?
Blackland clay. It swells when it's wet and shrinks when it's dry — several inches of movement a year — and a 4-inch builder slab on raked clay can't follow it. The fix is base prep and steel: dig out the top of the clay, compact a base, put rebar on chairs and pour thicker. Our estimates spell out each step.
Can a heaved driveway be leveled instead of replaced?
If it's in a few big pieces, often yes — foam lifting brings them back to grade in a morning. If it's cracked into a mosaic, replacement is the honest answer.
Does Pflugerville require a permit?
For the driveway approach in the right-of-way and for any structural slab, yes; we pull it. A patio or pad on your own lot generally doesn't.
Do you handle the HOA?
Yes — Falcon Pointe, Blackhawk, Avalon and most of the others review street-visible work. We prepare the submittal with the sketch and finish.
