Concrete in North Austin

Concrete for north Austin — Wells Branch to the Domain, Anderson Mill to Parmer Lane

Twenty-five minutes down I-35 or MoPac: the 1970s–90s neighborhoods north of 183 whose driveways are finally done, plus the patios and pool decks the new owners want. City of Austin permits handled.

Freshly poured driveway approach at the curb with forms still in place on a Georgetown street

North Austin — everything between US 183 and the Williamson County line, from Anderson Mill and Jollyville on the west to Wells Branch, Milwood, Gracywoods and the Domain area on the east — was built mostly between 1975 and 1995 for the first wave of tech workers, and it's being bought and renovated today by the second. The concrete is at the end of its first life: 4-inch builder driveways on a mix of limestone (west of MoPac) and clay (east of it), cracked at the apron and settled at the garage; front walks that tilt; and patios sized for the 1980s that the new owners want to double. Great Hills and Balcones Woods add steep, rocky lots; Wells Branch and Scofield add clay.

We pour in north Austin every week: driveway replacements built for whichever soil the lot is on, extensions and third-car strips, patios and outdoor-kitchen slabs, pool decks, RV and boat pads, walkways and steps, and foam lifting for slabs still worth saving. The City of Austin requires a right-of-way permit for any driveway approach and has its own driveway-width and impervious-cover rules; we handle the permit and design to the rules. HOA neighborhoods — Anderson Mill, Milwood, Wells Branch and others — get the submittal prepared with the estimate. Free written estimates.

Questions from North Austin homeowners

Does Austin require a permit for a new driveway?

Yes — a right-of-way permit for the approach, and the city limits driveway width and total impervious cover on the lot. We design to the rules and pull the permit; it's the main difference between an Austin job and a Georgetown one.

Can I widen my driveway in Austin?

Usually, within the city's width limit and your lot's impervious-cover allowance. We measure both before we quote so the extension you get is one the city will approve.

Is north Austin clay or rock?

Both — roughly clay east of MoPac and limestone west of it, with exceptions on every street. We probe the site and build for what's there.

Do you work in the HOA neighborhoods?

Yes — Anderson Mill, Milwood, Wells Branch and the rest. We prepare the submittal with the estimate.

Is Austin too far from Georgetown for you?

No — it's 25 minutes down I-35 or MoPac, and we're there most weeks.
