Concrete for downtown and Old Town Georgetown — the streets around the square
Victorian storefronts, 1880s–1950s houses on narrow lots, ribbon driveways from the 1920s and front walks that have tilted for decades. We replace them without wrecking the look that makes Old Town worth living in.
The blocks around the Williamson County courthouse — Old Town to the east and south, the University Avenue and Austin Avenue corridors, the streets near Southwestern University — hold Georgetown's oldest houses: Victorians and folk cottages from the 1880s, craftsman bungalows from the 1910s–20s, and the cottages and ranches that filled in through the 1950s. Their concrete is the same age. Two-strip ribbon driveways from the Model A era, front walks heaved by pecan roots, porch and carport slabs poured on unamended clay, and curbs the city put in before the war. Lots are narrow, trees are big and protected, and the Downtown and Old Town Overlay Districts have design standards for what's visible from the street.
We replace and extend driveways here in ways that keep the streetscape — ribbon drives rebuilt as ribbon drives when the owner wants it, broom-finished aprons that match the neighbors, walks re-routed around a heritage pecan instead of through its roots — and we pour new carport, porch and shed slabs on a proper base. The City of Georgetown permits the driveway approach and any slab that becomes part of a structure; exterior changes in the overlay districts can require a review, and we tell you before the estimate whether yours does. Tight-lot logistics — pump truck instead of a chute, wheelbarrows down a side yard — are priced in, not surprised on.

Questions from Downtown & Old Town Georgetown homeowners
Does Old Town require approval for a new driveway?
The overlay districts review exterior changes visible from the street, and a driveway that changes width, material or location can be one of them. A like-for-like replacement usually isn't. We check the address and the rules before the estimate, and prepare the application if it's needed.
Can you keep the ribbon driveway?
Yes — two reinforced strips with a planted center, matched to the old width, or a full-width drive with a saw-cut pattern that reads like ribbons. Your call.
The pecan roots lifted my walk — can it be fixed without killing the tree?
Usually. We re-route the walk, bridge the roots with a thicker reinforced section, or set a root barrier where the arborist says it's safe. Cutting a heritage pecan's roots to pour a flat walk isn't something we do.
How do you get concrete to a backyard with a four-foot side yard?
A line pump from the street. It costs a little more than a chute and it's how every backyard pour in Old Town gets done.
Is there a permit for a new carport slab?
If the slab supports a structure, the City of Georgetown permits it with the carport; we coordinate with the builder. A stand-alone patio or walk on your lot generally doesn't need one.
