A front walk that doesn't puddle, porch steps at a rise you can actually climb, a side-yard path wide enough for the trash cans, and city sidewalk sections replaced to spec — the small pours that make a house work.
Walkways are where bad concrete shows first. Builders pour the front walk last, thin, with no steel and no thought about where water goes, and on clay soil it's the first thing to tilt. Steps get poured at whatever rise fits, and older Georgetown houses around Old Town and San Gabriel Heights have stoops that have sunk two inches from the door.
We pour walks at four inches with rebar, on a compacted base, sloped a quarter-inch per foot so rain runs off and not toward the door, with tooled or saw-cut joints every four to five feet and an isolation joint at the porch and the driveway. Steps are formed to a consistent seven-inch rise and eleven-inch tread, tied into the walk, with a broom texture for grip. If the walk crosses the utility easement or replaces a section of public sidewalk, we build to the City of Georgetown sidewalk standard and pull the right-of-way permit.

How much is a concrete walkway in Georgetown?

Who is responsible for the sidewalk in front of my house?

Usually the soil under it was never compacted, or a downspout has been dumping water beside it for years and the clay under that side has been swelling and shrinking. Sometimes we can lift it with foam; if it's cracked into pieces, replacement is cheaper in the long run.
